I don’t know what it is about autumn that gives me such a sense of nesting syndrome, but every year around this time I get this undeniable urge to prep our home for the sites and smells of cinnamon, leaves, and pine cones. This year, it all started with the pine cones.
Chris and I had gone food shopping at Stop n’ Shop the other night, and they had bags and bags of cinnamon scented pine cones ($6.00). I could smell them halfway through the store and I had to have them. I’m a cinnamon addict, especially in the fall so I picked up this little treasure and planned to just place it behind the couch on the floor to add some delicious fragrance to our living room. But I just couldn’t stop there now could I? Nope! Off to Christmas Tree Shops I went in search of more cinnamon-y stuff. (Damn you Christmas Tree Shops! Why do you have to exist right behind our house?!)
They have SO MUCH FALL STUFF RIGHT NOW! I exercised an exuberant amount of self control, I must say. I just wanted to make a cute little cinnamon scented fall arrangement with a few of the pine cones I already bought so I picked up this adorable little basket ($3.99), fall themed vase filler ($4.99) and these mini apple candles ($1.99). I did end up getting a cinnamon twig broom too, ($3.99) because they had them last year and they smelled fantastic but I never got one and I regretted it.
This is SO easy to make and brightens up any space in your home. I put a few of the cinnamon scented cones on the bottom since they are large, arranged the filler on top, and added the apple candles. Then I took the piece of straw that was tied around the filler bag and knotted it around the top of the basket. It looks so cute and smells heavenly!
When I tell you I had to use self control I’m talking something serious. Christmas Tree Shops has everything fall themed for your home such as dinnerware, numerous decorations, placemats, candles…you name it they have it in an array of fall colors! My advice to anyone reading this is to get yourself to your nearest store if you need anything for the upcoming season. All of the summer items are on clearance so there are some great markdowns to take advantage of too. Just be prepared to be tempted to buy more than your fair share of stuff! I found a couple pieces of furniture for the house too so Chris and I went back later to pick those up. I have some spray painting to do but I’ll show you what we bought for the kitchen soon. We couldn’t beat the price for what we bought.
