Well look what landed on my doorstep last week! I know all of you beauty fanatics can back me up when I say I HAD TO HAVE IT! It’s the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette, and it’s to die for. Seeing as I own the 3 previous Nakeds, I knew I would be a fan of this one. Boy was I right! If you’re looking for all the reasons you should purchase this palette, not to worry, I’ve covered them all in this review!
Let’s start with the packaging. I have to say amazing job Urban Decay! It’s sleek, it’s smokey, and it has a magnetic closure. Plus it has a full size mirror inside. When you open it, the top is on a hinge that makes it easy to position the mirror wherever you want it, so you can use it on any table top or surface. You could even set it in your lap if you had to! The convenience factor is an A+ just for that reason.
There are 12 shades consisting of shimmers, satins and mattes. I like that there’s a variety of textures. The last two matte colors on the right (COMBUST & THIRTEEN) are great for using as transition colors in the crease or on the brow bone. This palette can actually be used for smoky or more natural looks because of the color variation they have supplied in this palette :)
They give you a dual ended brush made of synthetic hair. (Another A+ for Urban Decay being cruelty free!) One end is a blending brush, and the other is more of a pencil brush. It’s soft and blends smoothly. Great quality. Now let’s talk swatches:
Left to right: HIGH, DIRTYWSEET, RADAR, ARMOR, SLANTED, DAGGER, BLACK MARKET, SMOLDER, PASSWORD, WHISKEY, COMBUST, THIRTEEN.
As you can see these colors are highly pigmented. There is no base under these shades. They are creamy, buttery, and very blendable. They provide great transfer to the skin, and are easy to work with. (Most UD shadow are though.)
Overall, Fashion Swain recommends the Naked Smoky palette to everyone and anyone! The cost is $54, which is reasonable considering it will last you at least a couple of years. I just hit pan on a couple shades in my original Naked, and I purchased that about 3 years ago. You can snag this cool toned palette at urbandecay.com, Sephora, and Ulta.
I will create a look soon to share with all of you! I can’t wait! May you all have a positive and motivating start to your week, and I will talk to you very soon.
