Today I wanted to share the truth about a beauty myth. When it comes to drug store beauty products, or cosmetics in this case, it’s not always “you get what you pay for”. In fact, I’ve worked with both high end and drug store cosmetics, and I can say with confidence that you can find some high quality products at your local drug store and pay a fraction of the price of the higher end brands. These are my top 5 drug store beauty picks that I use very frequently:
Rimmel London’s Fix & Perfect Face Primer – (I use 001) It lasts all day without drying out my skin, and hides imperfections. My makeup applications always look absolutely flawless with this under them.
NYX Collection Noir Liquid Black Liner – This amazing liner lasts me all day. The color payoff is INSANE, and the brush is very thin which gives me more control when applying it to my eyelids. It makes creating wings almost fool proof.
L’oreal True Match Liquid Concealer – I love this concealer most of all because it doesn’t dry the skin under my eyes. This is important to me because I do have dry skin. It never sinks into fine lines, and there is a large variety of shades to pick from.
N.Y.C. Waterproof Eyeliner Pencils – I use the shade Dark Brown (932A). It never smears throughout the day and it glides smoothly over my skin. Whenever I use this on my water line (which is often) it stays all day.
Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow – These are great to use as eyeshadow bases. They never crease on me, and my shadow stands out more when applied over them. They are very highly pigmented. Totally worth it.
I hope those of you who need recommendations find this helpful. After attending school for makeup application and working at a high end cosmetic chain store I’ve had plenty of hands on experience trying out product after product.
